Print the slip your team packs each order from, for one order or a whole batch, and download an order’s invoice as a PDF. This article also explains why some orders cannot print a slip yet.

What a packing slip shows

A packing slip is the sheet your team packs from and puts in the parcel. It shows no prices. Each slip prints on its own A4 page, with these parts from top to bottom:

PartWhat it shows
HeaderYour store’s logo and name, the words Packing slip, the order number, and a barcode of the order number under it that a scanner reads.
Created, Printed, Status, ShipmentThe date the order was placed, today’s date, the order’s status, and the status of its shipment (or No shipment).
Ship toThe customer’s name, phone, delivery address, country and email.
Shipment detailsThe delivery provider, tracking number and estimated delivery date of the order’s shipment, or No shipment assigned. when there is none.
Packing notesThe order’s internal note, or No packing notes.
Items tableOne row per item: Checked (an empty box to tick by hand), Items, SKU, Variant and Qty.
FooterLines for Packed by, Checked by and Signature / date.
A packing slip for a confirmed order: the barcode sits under the order number, and the shipment details are empty because there is no shipment yet.

The slip is printed in the language your console is in, product names included. To print Arabic slips, switch the console to Arabic first.

Put instructions on the slip with the internal note

Whatever you write in the order’s internal note prints under Packing notes, for example "Gift wrap the scarf, no invoice in the box".

  1. Open the order and select the Operations tab.
  2. In Internal order note, type in Internal note, up to 4,000 characters.
  3. Select Save note.

The internal note is for your team only. We never send it to the customer, but it does go in the box on the slip, so leave out anything the customer should not read. See Edit an order’s address, notes or tags.

You can print one order’s slip on every plan.

  1. In the sidebar, open Orders and open the order.
  2. Select the Fulfilment tab.
  3. Below the shipment panels, select Print packing slip.
Print packing slip and Download invoice sit at the bottom of the Fulfilment tab.
  1. Your browser’s print window opens with the slip. Choose your printer, or choose to save as PDF, and print.

You can also print from the list without opening the order: open the order’s actions menu (the three dots at the end of its row) and select Print packing slip.

Printing a batch is a bulk action, on Starter and up. On Free, Print packing slips carries a padlock, and selecting it shows a message that names the plan that includes it, with its monthly price and a See plans link. Print the slips one order at a time instead.

On Free, printing a batch is locked; one order at a time still works.
Tick the orders you are packing today, select Print packing slips, and one slip per order prints.
  1. In the sidebar, open Orders.
  2. Tick the orders you are packing. Every selected order must be able to print a slip.
  3. In the bar above the list, select Print packing slips. The button reads Preparing print… while we gather the orders.
  4. In your browser’s print window, print. Each order gets its own page.
Three orders selected, three slips: each one starts on a new page when printed.

For how selecting works, see Update several orders at once. For the plans, see Plans and what each includes.

Which orders can print: from confirmed to shipped

An order can print a packing slip while its status is Confirmed, Preparing, Ready to ship or Shipped. Before that it is not yet yours to pack, and after that the parcel has left.

Order statusPacking slip
Awaiting payment, Awaiting confirmationNot yet. Confirm the order first.
Confirmed, Preparing, Ready to ship, ShippedYes.
Out for delivery, Delivered, CompletedNo. The parcel has left.
Cancelled, Returned, RefundedNo.

On an order’s Fulfilment tab, Print packing slip only appears when the order can print, and so does the Print packing slip item in the row’s actions menu.

In the list, Print packing slips is greyed out unless every selected order can print. Point at it to see why.

When no selected order is between confirmed and shipped, you see None of the selected orders is ready for a packing slip. Confirm the orders first.

Both selected orders still await confirmation, so neither can print yet.

When only some of them can print, you see Some selected orders were skipped. Their status does not allow a packing slip. Untick the orders that cannot print and try again.

Dalia’s order can print, but Rasha’s still awaits confirmation, so the button stays greyed out until you untick it.

The same two sentences can also appear as a message at the bottom of the screen, if an order’s status changed after your list loaded. When some orders can still print, we print those and tell you the rest were skipped. When none of them can, nothing prints.

Download an order’s invoice

Every order has an invoice, whatever its status, cancelled and refunded orders included.

  1. Open the order and select the Fulfilment tab.
  2. Select Download invoice. The button reads Preparing invoice… for a moment.
  3. Your browser saves a PDF named after the order number, such as invoice-ORD-20261014-0E9139.pdf.

The invoice is the same document your customer gets. It is attached to their order confirmation email and they can download it from their order page on your storefront. It includes:

  • your store’s name, address, email and phone, and your tax number if you added one
  • the order number and the date the order was placed (not today’s date)
  • who is billed and where it ships to (one block when they are the same)
  • each item with its variant, quantity, unit price and amount
  • the subtotal, any discount with its code, delivery (or Free), tax, the total, and how the customer paid

The invoice is written in your store’s default language, the language your customer’s own copy uses, not the language of your console. You set the default language in Settings: see Set your store’s languages and currency.

If the download fails, you see Could not prepare the invoice. Try again. Select Download invoice again after a moment.

Note

We build the invoice each time you download it, from your store details as they are at that moment. If you change your store’s address or tax number, every invoice you download afterwards, for old orders too, shows the new details.

Your tax number on invoices

To print your tax or VAT registration number in the header of every invoice:

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings.
  2. Select the Commerce tab.
  3. Type your number in Tax / VAT registration number. It is optional, up to 50 characters.
  4. Select Save changes.

From then on, every invoice shows it under your store’s address, labelled Tax reg. no.: on an English invoice. Leave the field empty and the line does not print. See Your tax registration number on invoices.
