The audit log lists the changes made in your store, newest first, with who made each one and when. Use it when something changed and you need to know who did it: a cancelled order, a product price, a blocked customer or your HyperPay keys.
The audit log is on Business and up. See plans and what each includes.
What the audit log records
In the sidebar, under Administration, open Staff, then Audit log. You can also open the audit log (opens in a new tab) from here.
Every change below is recorded, whoever makes it, except two kinds: products, variants and stock that a CSV import adds or updates (see how an import matches rows), and an order status that HyperPay changes, such as a card order moving from Awaiting payment to Confirmed once it is paid. Neither leaves a row. The What column names the kind of record, and the Action column names what was done to it:
| What | Actions you can see |
|---|---|
| Order | Order placed · Order status changed · Order status changed in bulk · Order notes edited · Customer details on order edited · Order tags edited · Payment marked as received · Order cancelled · Refund issued · Shipment created · Shipment edited · Delivery status changed · Shipment deleted |
| Return | Return created · Return status changed |
| Product | Product added · Product edited · Product status changed · Product deleted · Product duplicated · Product category changed · Main image changed |
| Product image | Image added · Image edited · Image replaced · Image deleted |
| Variant | Variant added · Variant edited · Variant deleted · Variant images changed |
| Stock | Stock adjusted |
| Customer | Customer details edited · Customer blocked · Customer unblocked |
| HyperPay keys | HyperPay keys added · HyperPay settings changed · HyperPay keys checked · HyperPay keys removed |
A change made in bulk, such as changing the status of ten orders at once, gives one row for each order.
The log does not record changes to staff and roles, your store settings, discount codes and gift cards, categories and collections, your storefront design and pages, or your newsletter.
Who can open the audit log
Two things decide it:
- Your plan. The page opens on Business and Enterprise. On other plans the page explains that the audit log is on a higher plan instead. See on plans without the audit log.
- Your role. Reading the log needs the View settings permission. Out of the box only the Store owner role has it. A Store manager and Sales staff do not see Audit log in their sidebar. If they open the page from a link, it says You do not have permission to do this. where the log would be, with no Try again.
To let someone else read the log, give them a custom role that includes View settings. That permission also lets them read your Settings, Card payments and Your domain pages, so give it only to someone you trust with those. See staff roles.
Reading an entry: when, who, action, record and result
Each row is one change:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| When | The date and time of the change, in your device’s own time, for example Oct 14, 2026, 1:45 PM. |
| Who | The email address of the person who made it. A staff member you later removed keeps their email here. System means nobody was signed in, for example an order a guest placed at checkout. An order placed by a customer signed in to their account shows that customer’s email. |
| Action | What was done, such as Order status changed or Product added. |
| What | The kind of record it was done to, such as Order, Product or Stock. |
| Result | Done, in green, when the change went through. Today every recorded change reads Done. See refused changes. |
The log tells you who did what and when. It does not show which order or product it was, or the values before and after. To follow one record:
- For one product, its History tab lists most changes to it, with who made each one and when, and the old and new price or stock. Some changes are left out, such as a CSV import. See what is not in a product’s history.
- For one variant’s stock, its stock history lists every movement with its reason. See adjust stock and see its history.
- For one order, the Activity timeline on the order page shows who did what to it. See read an order page.
If an action or a record shows as a technical code in a typewriter-style font instead of words, it is a kind of change the console has no name for yet. The row is still a real change, with its date and who made it.
Show one kind of record
- At the top right of the page, open the Show list. It starts on Everything.
- Select the kind of record you want, such as Product.
The list shows only that kind, newest first, and goes back to its first page. The Show list offers only the kinds your log already holds, so a new store may see just one or two.
Shipments belong to their order, so Shipment created and Delivery status changed are under Order. Choose Everything to see all changes again.
Refused changes
Today the log records changes that went through, so every row reads Done in the Result column. A change that was stopped is not recorded, whether a role did not allow it, a plan limit refused it or a form error held it back.
If a row ever reads Refused, in red, nothing was changed in your store, so there is nothing to undo. Point at Refused to read the reason.
Move through a long log
The log shows 50 changes on each page. When there are more, page controls appear at the foot of the list.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list.
- Select the forward arrow to see older changes, or the back arrow to return to newer ones.
The line between them, such as Page 1 of 3, says where you are. An arrow is greyed out when there is nowhere further to go. To reach a change quickly, narrow the list first with Show.
Nothing recorded yet
A new store, or one where nothing has changed yet, shows No changes recorded yet.
The log fills by itself. You do not switch anything on. As soon as someone adds a product, an order comes in or a customer is blocked, the change appears here.
If the page shows Could not load the audit log. with Try again instead of the log, the log did not load this time. Select Try again. If the page says You do not have permission to do this. instead, your role does not include View settings. See who can open the audit log.
On plans without the audit log
On Free, Starter and Growth, the page shows The audit log is on a higher plan and a See plans button instead of the log.
Note
We record your store’s changes on every plan. When you move up to Business, this page opens onto that whole history. It does not start from the day you upgrade. If you move down later, the page locks again, and recording carries on.
Select See plans. A message names the plan that includes the audit log and its monthly price, with a See plans link to your Subscription page.
See upgrade or change your plan.
Next, see what each role can see and do, or change, suspend or remove a staff member.
