Everything you have saved, scheduled or sent is listed under Past campaigns, at the bottom of the Campaigns page. This article explains what each campaign's numbers and badges mean, what to do when a campaign fails, and how to reuse a campaign or delete a draft.

Past campaigns and their results

  1. In the sidebar, under Marketing, open Newsletter, then Campaigns.
  2. Scroll below the composer to Past campaigns.
Each campaign with its status and, once it has gone out, its numbers

The list shows your 100 most recent campaigns, newest first. Each one shows:

PartWhat it shows
SubjectIn your store's main language, or in another language you wrote if the main one is empty. Untitled campaign when it has no subject yet.
EditingShown on the campaign that is open in the composer above.
Status badgeWhere the campaign is: see the next table.
Date and timeWhen the campaign was created.
22 / 23 sentShown once sending has started. The second number is how many subscribers were in its audience when it started; the first is how many we sent it to.
1 failed (in red)Shown when some messages could not be sent.
IconsEdit draft (pencil), Duplicate (two squares) and Delete draft (red bin), depending on the status.

The status badge tells you where each campaign is:

BadgeWhat it meansWhat you can do
DraftSaved and not sent.Edit it, copy it, delete it.
ScheduledWaiting to go out at the time on its Goes out line.Unschedule it, copy it, delete it. See Choose who receives a campaign, and when.
Sending (amber)Going out now. A progress bar fills as it goes.Copy it.
SentFinished, and it reached at least some of its audience.Copy it.
Failed (red)Finished, and not a single message could be sent.Copy it and try again: see A campaign that failed to send.
UnknownThe console does not recognise the campaign's state.Reload the page.

Reading the numbers: 19 / 19 sent means everyone in the audience was sent the campaign. On a finished campaign, when the sent and failed numbers add up to less than the total, the difference is people who unsubscribed, or whom you deleted, while the campaign was going out: they were skipped on purpose.

The numbers count the messages we sent. The console does not track whether a subscriber opened the email or selected a link in it.

When a campaign finishes, the bell at the top of the console tells you how it went: Campaign sent to the number of subscribers it reached, or Could not send your campaign to the number it could not reach. Selecting the notification opens the Campaigns page. See Keep up with notifications.

A sent campaign is never deleted or changed, because it is your record of what your subscribers received. The list shows your 100 most recent campaigns, so once you have 100 newer ones, an old campaign drops off the list, but it is not deleted.

A campaign that failed to send

A campaign is Failed when not a single message could be sent. Its badge is red and its numbers read, for example, 0 / 5 sent · 5 failed. The bell says Could not send your campaign to 5 of your subscribers.

Failed: nobody in the audience received it

Nobody received a failed campaign, so you can send it again without anyone getting it twice:

  1. On the failed campaign, select Duplicate. The copy opens in the composer.
  2. Select Send test to me and check that the test reaches your inbox.
  3. If it does, select Send now, or schedule the copy.
  4. If the test does not arrive, or the copy fails too, open a support ticket and tell us the campaign's subject and when you sent it.

A Sent campaign with a few failures, such as 22 / 23 sent · 1 failed, did reach most of its audience. Do not send a copy to everyone again to cover the one: everybody else would receive it twice. There is no way to resend only to the addresses that failed.

Copy a campaign into a new draft

Most campaigns are the last one with a few words changed. A sent campaign cannot be edited, but you can copy any campaign, whatever its status:

  1. On the campaign in Past campaigns, select Duplicate.

The console says Copied into a new draft. The copy appears at the top of Past campaigns as a Draft with today's date, and opens in the composer, marked Editing.

The copy opens in the composer, ready to change

The copy takes the original's subject, preview line and message in every language, and its audience. It does not take the schedule or the results: it is a new draft that has not been sent.

  1. Change what you need, for example the subject and the products in the message.
  2. Select Save draft to keep your changes, then test, send or schedule it as usual.

Warning

Duplicating replaces whatever is in the composer, without asking. If you are in the middle of writing another campaign, select Save draft before you copy one.

If the console says Could not duplicate this campaign., no copy was made. Try again.

Delete a draft

You can delete drafts and scheduled campaigns. Campaigns that are sending, sent or failed cannot be deleted.

  1. On the draft or scheduled campaign, select the red Delete draft icon.
  2. Read the question: Delete this draft? The draft is deleted. Campaigns already sent are kept.
  3. Select Delete draft to delete it, or Cancel to keep it.
Only the draft goes; your sent campaigns stay

The console says Draft deleted. and the campaign leaves the list. Deleting a scheduled campaign also cancels its send. This cannot be undone.

If the draft you deleted was open in the composer, its words stay there. Saving them creates a new draft. If the console says Could not delete the draft., nothing was deleted; try again.

On Free and Starter, where campaigns are locked, Past campaigns stays on the page with Delete draft on drafts and scheduled campaigns and Unschedule on scheduled ones; Edit draft and Duplicate come back when you move up to Growth. See Campaigns need the Growth plan.

Copying and deleting need the Manage subscribers and campaign drafts permission. See Staff roles: what each one can see and do.

Next, write your next campaign, or start it from a template or with AI.
