Keep your store’s public details up to date: its name and description, the logo and the small icon in the browser tab, and the email, phone, address and social links customers use to reach you. All of them are on the Store tab of Settings.
Settings and its five tabs
- In the sidebar, under Administration, open Settings.
For the store owner, Settings opens on the Store tab. The bar above the form holds five tabs:
| Tab | What it holds | Where it is explained |
|---|---|---|
| Store | Store profile, branding and contact details | This article |
| Localization | Currency, time zone and your storefront’s languages | Set your store’s languages and currency |
| Commerce | Tax, payment methods and guest checkout | Set tax, payment methods and guest checkout |
| Operations | Fulfilment SLA, stock alerts, loyalty points, search synonyms and the order webhook | Set your fulfilment SLA and stock alerts |
| Account | Your own password | Change your password |
The first four tabs are one form. You can move between them while you edit without losing anything, and one Save changes button at the bottom saves all four together. The Account tab is about you rather than the store, so it has its own button and no Save changes.
Seeing the store's tabs needs the View settings or the Edit settings permission, and saving them needs Edit settings. Out of the box only the Store owner role has them. Other roles see only what their permissions allow:
- A Store manager, and any role with View content but neither setting permission, sees the Operations tab with only the Search synonyms card, plus Account. See search synonyms.
- Sales staff, and any role with neither setting permission nor View content, see the Account tab alone. See change your password.
- A role with View settings but not Edit settings sees every tab, with no Save changes button. In its place: You can view these settings. Changing them needs the Edit settings permission.
See Staff roles: what each one can see and do.
Store profile: name and description
The Store profile card holds the words customers read about your store.
| Field | Required | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Store name | Yes, marked with a red star | Your store’s name as customers see it: in the storefront header and footer, as the title of your home page in search results and shared links, and as the sender name on the emails your customers get. Up to 200 characters. |
| Store description | No | A short line about your store. Search engines show it under your home page’s title, and messaging apps show it when someone shares a link to your store. |
For example, Layal Boutique’s description reads “Linen, abayas and easy pieces for warm Amman days — designed in Abdoun, made in small runs.” One or two sentences work best: say what you sell and who it is for.
A new name or description takes effect everywhere as soon as you save: in Settings, on your storefront and in the emails your customers get.
One name and description for each language
If your storefront sells in more than one language, each language keeps its own store name and description. The boxes show, and save, the text for the language your console is in right now:
- What you type is saved for the console's current language only. If your store does not sell in that language, it is saved for your store's default language instead.
- The other languages keep their own text. A language that has no name or description of its own shows another language's, English first.
- If you empty Store description and save, only that language's description goes, and that language then shows another language's.
To give a bilingual store its Arabic name, switch the console to العربية with the language menu at the top of the page, open the Store tab and type the Arabic name, for example ليال بوتيك, then save. The English name stays as it was.
Branding: logo and favicon
The Branding card holds two images:
- Logo — shown in your storefront’s header and footer, on the page visitors see before your storefront opens, at the top of the emails your customers get, in the console’s sidebar, and as the picture in a shared link when the page has none of its own. Whether the header shows the logo alone, the logo with your store name, or the name only is set in the Storefront Studio: see Set up your header and hero image.
- Favicon — the small icon in the browser tab when someone has your storefront open. The console’s own tab shows it too.
To add or replace one:
- Under Logo or Favicon, select Upload.
- Choose an image file: JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB.
- Wait for the preview to replace the grey placeholder.
- Select Save changes.
The file goes into your store’s storage as soon as it is uploaded, but your storefront keeps the old image until you save. The console’s tab icon changes the moment the save finishes.
To take an image away, select Remove beside it. The placeholder comes back; select Save changes to make it final. Without a logo, the storefront header shows your store name in text.
If the upload fails, the console says Could not upload the image. Check that the file is one of the four image types above and no bigger than 10 MB. SVG and ICO files are not accepted. A full storage allowance refuses uploads too; see See your plan, usage and billing.
Tip
Use a square image with a simple shape for the favicon. Browsers show it at a few millimetres wide, so a full logo with small lettering turns into a blur.
Contact email, phone and address
The Contact card says how customers can reach you. All three fields are optional, but each one does real work.
| Field | Where it is used |
|---|---|
| Contact email | Shown on your storefront’s contact page. It is the reply address on the emails your customers get, so their replies reach you, and it is printed at the foot of those emails. It is also where we send you new-order emails and, from Growth, low-stock alerts. |
| Contact phone | Shown on your storefront’s contact page, where a customer on a phone can tap it to call. The storefront’s WhatsApp button uses it when you have not set a separate WhatsApp number in the Studio; see Set up your footer and WhatsApp button. |
| Address | Free text, shown on your storefront’s contact page and printed at the foot of your customers’ emails. |
What customers send through the contact page’s form arrives in Messages in the console: see Read and answer customer messages.
The phone number has two parts. The menu on the left holds the country and its dialling code, and starts on Jordan (+962). To change it:
- Select the flag and code at the start of Contact phone.
- Type in Search countries to narrow the list. A country’s name, its two-letter code (jo) or its dialling code (962) all find it.
- Select the country.
- Type the number without the dialling code, for example 791234567.
You do not have to type the number in exactly one way. The field saves it once, in full, however it arrives:
| You type or paste, with Jordan (+962) picked | Saved as |
|---|---|
| 0791234567, the local way with the leading 0 | +962791234567 |
| 791234567 | +962791234567 |
| 962791234567, the code without + or 00 | +962791234567 |
| +962 79 123 4567 or 00962791234567 | +962791234567, and the code is not doubled |
A pasted number that starts with another country's code, such as +966, switches the country menu to that country. While you are still typing a code after +, the field keeps the number it had, so saving at that moment does not delete it.
Note
Without a contact email, new-order emails and low-stock alerts have nowhere to go. New orders still appear under the bell at the top of the console.
Social links
In Social links, type the full addresses of your profiles, separated by commas, for example https://instagram.com/layal.boutique, https://facebook.com/layal.boutique.
Search engines use these links to connect your profiles to your store. Only entries that start with http:// or https:// are used: a handle such as @layal.boutique on its own is ignored, so copy the whole address from your browser.
Save, and leaving with unsaved changes
- Select Save changes at the bottom of the tab.
While the save runs, the button reads Saving…. When it finishes, Settings saved. appears in the bottom corner, just above the bar that holds Save changes.
If you leave Settings with changes you have not saved, for example by selecting another page in the sidebar, the console stops you with Unsaved changes:
- Cancel keeps you on Settings with your edits, so you can save them.
- Leave page goes on to the other page and throws your edits away.
Closing or reloading the browser tab with unsaved changes brings up your browser’s own warning.
What the form refuses
When something on the form is not right, nothing is saved. The message Fill in every required field. appears in the corner, and the field itself is outlined in red with the reason under it.
| Message | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Enter a store name. | Store name is empty. | Type your store’s name. |
| Enter a valid email address. | Contact email does not look like an address, for example hello@layal with no domain ending. | Type the whole address, such as hello@layal-boutique.com, or clear the field. |
| Could not save changes. | The form was fine but the save did not go through. | Try again in a moment. |
| A store name can be up to 200 characters. | The store name is longer than 200 characters. | Shorten the name, then save again. |
| Could not reach the server. Check your connection and try again. | Your connection dropped before the save reached us. | Your edits stay on the form: save again once you are back online. |
Because the four tabs save together, a problem on one tab stops the save for all of them. If you select Save changes on another tab and see Fill in every required field., come back to the Store tab and look for the red outline.
What to do next
- Choose the languages your storefront sells in, and its currency: Set your store’s languages and currency.
- Work through the rest of your opening list: The setup list before your first publish.
