On Starter, Growth and Business, sign-up ends on Stripe’s secure payment page. This article explains that page, every message on the page Stripe sends you back to, and what to do when a payment was cancelled or is not confirmed yet.
Continue to payment: Stripe’s secure page
When you select Continue to payment on step 3, we create your store first, then the page says Taking you to our payment page… and opens Stripe’s Checkout page in the same tab.
Stripe is the company that takes the payment for your NoqtaShop plan. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. On Stripe’s page:
- Check the plan, the price and the billing cycle at the top.
- Enter your card details. Apple Pay or Google Pay may also be offered, depending on your device.
- Read the line above the pay button. It names your plan, the price and the dates, and says where you cancel:
- With a trial (Starter and Growth): Your card is saved today and nothing is charged for 14 days. Cancel before … under Subscription in your console and you pay nothing; otherwise we charge 35.00 USD from … and Growth renews monthly until you cancel.
- Without a trial (Business): You are charged 79.00 USD today, and Business renews monthly until you cancel under Subscription in your console.
- Select Stripe’s pay or start-trial button.
On yearly billing, the line above the button says yearly instead of monthly, with the yearly price.
Under the button, a second line names the step after paying:
- If you signed up with your email, it reads After you pay, open the link we emailed you to set your password. You need it to publish your store and to sign in later. We sent that email the moment your store was created, so it may already be waiting, and its link works for 24 hours from then. Until you use it, your store stays closed.
- If you signed up with Google, it reads After you pay, sign in with Google. Your store shows a coming-soon page until you publish it from the console. No email is sent: Google is how you sign in.
On a free trial, both lines begin Once your card is saved instead of After you pay. Neither step publishes anything: your store opens to customers the first time you publish it from the Storefront Studio, once your setup list is done.
Stripe’s page has no Arabic. If your store’s main language is Arabic, Stripe shows its page in a language your browser accepts — usually English — and our two lines on it stay in Arabic.
Note
The 14-day trial is one per person and per card. If the email you signed up with has had a NoqtaShop trial before, the line above the button says you are charged today. If the card has, the trial is cancelled before anything is charged. See How the free trial works.
If the payment page could not start
Sometimes we create your store but cannot open Stripe’s page. You then stay on our page, headed Your store is created — payment is not:
We could not start the payment for Growth. Your store is safe and nothing has been charged. Check owner@layal.example for your set-password link, then talk to us so we can finish setting up billing.
- Set your password from the email we sent you. See Create your password from the email.
- Select Need a hand? to write to us, and we finish setting up your billing with you.
Set your password soon: a store whose password is never set and whose plan is never paid is removed after 30 days. See Payment cancelled: your store is saved.
The page you come back to
When you finish on Stripe’s page — or leave it — Stripe sends you back to a page on noqtashop.com. If you are back in the same browser tab you signed up in, it shows your store again: its picture on one side, and under it your store’s name, address and email.
The page then asks Stripe what happened to your payment, and the heading follows the answer:
| Heading | What it means |
|---|---|
| Confirming your payment. | We are asking Stripe right now. |
| Payment received. | Stripe has your payment — or, on a trial, your card — and your plan is active. |
| Payment not confirmed yet. | Stripe has no completed payment, or we could not reach it just now. |
| Payment cancelled. | You left Stripe’s page without paying. |
| Setting up your store. | The page was opened with nothing to confirm. |
Under the heading, numbered steps say what happens next, in order. The bottom has Go to the console and Need a hand?. When Stripe sent you back with a reference, a Payment reference line shows its start. Quote it if you write to us about a payment.
Payment received: your plan is active
Payment received., with a tick, means we have confirmed your payment with Stripe and your plan is active.
The steps read:
- Your plan is active.
- Highlighted, the step that matters now: the link we emailed to owner@layal.example to set your password.
- The console is already open to you. Have a look whenever you like.
On Starter and Growth with a trial, received means Stripe has saved your card and your 14-day trial has started. Nothing is charged until the trial ends.
You are signed in already: Go to the console takes you straight in, so you can start setting up your store. Until you use the link in your email, your store stays closed: you cannot publish it, customers see its Opening soon page, and it takes no orders. A banner at the top of every console page reads Confirm your email so you can publish your store, with Resend email and Wrong address?: see Confirm your email and fix a wrong address. Go to the console signs you in once, within 30 minutes of creating your store. After that, if the console shows its sign-in page, sign in normally: with the password you set from the email, or with Google if you signed up with it. The link in your email is still the step that lifts what keeps your store closed, and it sets the password you use to sign in again later. After that, your store opens to customers the first time you publish it from the Storefront Studio. See Create your password from the email.
If you signed up with Google, there is no email to wait for and nothing keeps your store closed: step 2 reads The console is already open to you, and Google gets you back in any time. Your store opens to customers the first time you publish it. See Sign up with your Google account.
Confirming with Stripe, and when it takes longer
While we ask Stripe, the heading reads Confirming your payment., the side says Your store, saved., and step 1 reads We finish setting your store up. A minute or two. This usually lasts a second or two.
Now and then Stripe has taken your payment but has not finished confirming it. The page then adds Stripe is still confirming your payment. This usually takes under a minute. and a Check again link.
- Wait a minute.
- Select Check again. When Stripe confirms, the heading changes to Payment received.
You can also go to the console meanwhile. If it shows Your subscription isn’t active, select Check again there: it asks Stripe the same question.
No completed payment, or not confirmed just now
Payment not confirmed yet. means we could not confirm a payment. Your store is saved, and you are signed in already. Step 1 reads Your plan starts once the payment is confirmed. If it did not go through, pay from Subscription in the console. A line under the steps says why:
| Line | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| Stripe has no completed payment for this checkout. Nothing has been charged. | Stripe did not take a payment — for example, the card was declined, or the payment was not finished. Pay from inside the console. |
| We couldn’t confirm your payment just now. | We could not reach Stripe, or it did not answer in time. Your payment may well have gone through. Select Check again in a minute. |
Warning
Before you pay again from the console, select Check again and look at your bank or card statement. A payment that is still being confirmed should not be made twice.
Payment cancelled: your store is saved
If you leave Stripe’s page with its back link instead of paying, you come back to Payment cancelled.: Nothing has been charged, and your store is saved.
The steps read:
- The link we emailed to owner@layal.example to set your password.
- When you are ready, pay for your plan under Subscription in the console, or switch to Free.
After a cancelled payment you are not signed in. Set your password from the email first, then select Go to the console and sign in. The second button, Need a hand?, opens our contact form. The page has no button back to the pricing page, and you do not need one.
If you signed up with Google, step 1 reads Sign in to the console with Google. There is no password to set. Select Go to the console, then Continue with Google on the sign-in page. See Sign up with your Google account.
Do not sign up again with the same email: your store already exists, and that email is now taken. The way on is the console.
Warning
If you signed up with an email address, set your password soon. A store whose password is never set and whose plan is never paid is removed after 30 days, and its address becomes free for anyone to take. Once your password is set, your store is kept, paid or not. A store you signed up for with Google is not removed this way.
Paying later from inside the console
A store whose plan is not paid yet is saved, but its console is locked until a plan is active. Set your password soon, though: see the warning under Payment cancelled.
- Set your password from the email, and sign in to the console.
- The console shows Your subscription isn’t active and This store has no active subscription. Select Go to subscription.
- The page says This store has no active plan yet. Select Pay for and your plan’s name — for example Pay for Growth — and pay on Stripe’s page. If you can still have a free trial, 14-day free trial shows beside the button.
If you have just paid, select Check again on the lock screen instead: it asks Stripe and opens the console once the payment is confirmed.
You can also move your store to Free, at no charge: select Switch to Free beside the pay button. The window lists what Free would switch off in your store, such as card payments, a second storefront language, extra staff accounts or your own domain. Nothing is deleted. See A payment failed, or your store is locked.
After your first payment: Manage billing
Stripe’s payment page is only for your first payment. Once your store pays for a plan, you change it on the Subscription page — moving up, moving down, or cancelling — and Stripe charges the same card. A store that already pays is never sent back to Stripe’s payment page to buy a second plan.
Your card, your invoices and your billing email are under Card and invoices on the Subscription page: Manage billing opens Stripe’s page for the card and invoices. See See your plan, usage and billing.
Back on another device or browser
The return page remembers your store only in the browser tab you signed up in. If Stripe sends you back to another browser or device — for example, you paid on your phone with a link opened from your computer — the page has no store picture and uses general words: your store, your email.
The payment check still works, because it uses Stripe’s reference in the link. Two things differ:
- You are not signed in on that device: Go to the console opens the sign-in page. Set your password from the email first.
- There is no Send it again link. If the email does not arrive, go back to the device you signed up on, or talk to us (opens in a new tab).
The page opened with nothing to confirm
If the return page opens without Stripe’s answer — for example, from a bookmark or a copied link — it says Setting up your store. and Check your email for the link to set your password., with Go to the console and Need a hand?.
If the page opens as a successful return but without Stripe’s reference, it is headed Payment not confirmed yet. and says There is no payment reference on this link to check with Stripe. The console shows whether your plan is active. Sign in to the console to see your plan.
No email? Send the set-password link again
Under the steps, after a successful return in the tab you signed up in, the page offers No email? Send it again.
- First check your spam or junk folder.
- Select Send it again.
The page then says If a new link is due, it’s on its way. Give it a few minutes, and check your spam folder too.
To protect your inbox, new links are spaced out: the first can be sent 3 minutes after the original, then 15 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours and 24 hours after the one before — five resends at most. Resend email and Wrong address? on the console’s banner count toward the same five. A new link works for 24 hours and replaces the earlier one, so always use the newest email. Once your password is set, no more links are sent. If you still have nothing, talk to us (opens in a new tab).
If the address on this page has a typing mistake, Send it again sends the link to the same wrong address. Go to the console instead and press Wrong address? on the banner. See Wrong address? Send the link to the right one.
What to do next
- Create your password from the email.
- Work through the setup list on your dashboard.
- A message stopped your sign-up? What do the sign-up error messages mean?
