This article shows you how to turn an ordinary product photo — taken on your phone, on a table at home — into a storefront-ready one with AI, compare the result with your original, and keep whichever you prefer. You can enhance one photo or several at once.
AI photo enhancement is on Growth and up. See plans and what each includes.
What AI enhancement does, and what it never changes
AI enhancement makes a new version of your photo for your storefront. It can:
- Generate realistic backgrounds — a clean, believable setting in place of your room, floor or clutter.
- Improve product lighting — soft light and natural shadows.
- Reframe the shot for the storefront — centre the product, straighten it, and give it space around it. Clothing may be shown worn by a model or styled on a hanger or a surface.
- Produce a storefront-ready photo — with no watermarks, logos or text added.
If your store has a logo, the background may take subtle hints from its colours.
The AI is told never to change the product itself: its shape, colours, print, fabric, buttons, stitching, labels and logos. It may still restage loose parts such as straps, sleeves or folds, and change the angle — so always check the result before you approve it. Your original photo is never touched until you choose Use AI version, and you always see the new version next to the original before you decide.
Tip
The clearer the original, the better the result: one product, sharp and fully in the frame. See what makes a good product photo.
One credit per photo, taken when enhancement starts
Each enhancement uses one AI credit. The credit is taken the moment the enhancement starts — when you select Create AI version, Regenerate or Try again — and kept once an AI version arrives, whether or not you keep it. An attempt that ends with no AI version gives its credit back.
| Plan | AI photo enhancements a month |
|---|---|
| Free and Starter | Not included |
| Growth | 100 |
| Business | 500 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
The enhancement window shows what you have left under AI credits remaining, for example 37 of 100 monthly credits left with a bar, and the reminder “One credit is used when enhancement starts.” On Enterprise it reads Unlimited.
Credits renew every month and unused credits do not carry over. See AI credits.
Note
Enhancing photos needs the products permissions — the store owner and the store manager have them. See roles and permissions.
Enhance one photo
- Open the product and select the Media tab.
- Point at the photo and select the sparkle button (Enhance with AI).
The AI photo enhancement window opens. On the left is your Original; on the right, the AI preview panel says Ready to enhance and lists what AI will do.
- Select Create AI version.
The preview panel shows that it is working. It can take a minute or more; keep the window open. You cannot close it while it works. When the new version arrives, it fills the AI preview panel with AI preview ready.
Compare, then use the AI version or keep the original
Look at the two photos side by side. Check that the product is the same: colour, print, details and shape. Then choose:
- Use AI version — the AI version replaces this photo in your gallery, as the note “The AI version replaces the selected image.” says. It keeps the photo’s place, its Primary badge if it has one, and any variant that uses it. The button reads Approving…, then AI version approved. appears.
- Regenerate — throws this version away and makes a new one. It uses another credit.
- Keep original — throws the AI version away and keeps your photo. The credit is not returned.
Closing the window with the × also keeps your original.
Warning
Once you select Use AI version, your original is gone from the gallery. If you might want it again, download it before you approve.
Enhance several photos and review each one
- On the Media tab, select the round checkbox on each photo you want to enhance.
- In the bar above the photos, select Enhance with AI.
The window shows which photo you are on (1 / 2), how many you have reviewed (0 reviewed), the Current image, and a strip of thumbnails.
- Select Enhance selected images.
NoqtaShop enhances the first photo, then stops for your decision.
- Choose Use AI version, Regenerate or Keep original for that photo.
The next photo starts as soon as you decide. If a photo fails, the batch moves on; its thumbnail shows Failed and it counts as not approved. A photo you keep the original for shows Skipped. The thumbnails show where each photo stands — point at one to read Queued, Generating, Needs review, Completed, Skipped or Failed — and you can select a finished thumbnail to look at it again.
When every photo is done, the window shows Batch review completed with the number approved and not approved: “Approved images have replaced their originals.”
- Select Close.
Each photo in the batch uses one credit when its enhancement starts, and Regenerate uses one more.
AI previews still waiting for your decision
If you close the batch window while a preview is waiting for your decision, the preview stays on its photo with the label AI preview ready. Until you decide, that photo cannot be replaced, downloaded, moved, made the main photo or deleted.
To decide:
- Select the photo’s checkbox, then Enhance with AI in the bar.
- Select Enhance selected images. The waiting preview opens straight away without using another credit.
- Choose Use AI version or Keep original.
A waiting preview is kept only while the product page is open. If you leave the page or refresh it, the preview is thrown away and your original stays — the credit it used is not returned.
If you have no credits left, Enhance selected images is greyed out and the preview cannot be reopened. Refresh the page to discard it and unlock the photo; your original stays.
The batch window can also be closed while a photo is still being enhanced. That photo then finishes into a waiting preview, and the photos after it are not enhanced and use no credit.
No credits left this month
When you have used every credit for the month, the window shows 0 of 100 monthly credits left with a full bar and “You have used all your AI photo enhancement credits for this month.” Create AI version, Regenerate and Enhance selected images stop working.
If an AI preview is still waiting on one of your photos, see AI previews still waiting for your decision to unlock it.
Your credits renew next month. Credits cannot be bought in the console; if you need more before then, contact us through a support ticket. Business includes five times as many enhancements as Growth — see change your plan.
When an enhancement fails
Sometimes the AI service cannot finish. The preview panel then shows Could not create an AI version, the reason (such as “Could not enhance this image. Try again.”), and “Your original image was not changed. Your credits are refreshed from your plan after the attempt.”
- Select Try again.
A failed attempt gives its credit back, and the counter updates to show what you have left. Only an attempt you leave before it finishes — by leaving or refreshing the page while it works — keeps its credit. If it keeps failing, upload a clearer photo — one product, well lit, fully in the frame — and try that one. Only JPG, PNG and WebP photos can be enhanced.
On plans without AI photo enhancement
On Free and Starter, the AI buttons stay visible with a padlock: the sparkle on each photo and Enhance with AI in the selection bar. The i that opens the photo tips is hidden.
Selecting a locked button opens nothing: a message names the plan that includes AI photo enhancement and its price, with a See plans link. Your photos and every other photo tool work as usual. See why a feature shows a padlock and change your plan.
Next, see how your credits are counted in AI credits, or go back to your product photos.
